Fat Tire bikes only, 3.8" Minimum Tire Width.  Fat Tire E- Bikes allowed but not eligible for placing

$65 REGULAR fee online registration (Jan 2nd - Jan 31st)

$80 LATE fee online registration (Feb 1st - Feb 9th)

Start Time: 10:30 AM (subject to change +/- 1 hour)

Distance: ~15 Miles (course TBD and subject to change)

All riders will be chip timed, podiums & prizes for youth categories

9-12, 13-15, & 16-18

Packet Pick up for Pre-Registered Participants will be available at

Sugar Bottom Bikes Thursday 2/11 from 10am-8pm, & Friday 2/12 from 10am-6pm

Day of Event Packet Pick Up for Fat Tire 30 will be at Lake Macbride Golf Course from 7:00am - 8:30am

Day of Event Packet Pick Up for Fat Tire 15 will be at Lake Macbride Golf Course from 7:00am - 10:30am

*In the event the race/ride times are changed, day of packet pick up times will change accordingly.                                     

Race Headquarters/Food/Drinks

Race HQ will be at the Lake Macbride Golf Club and Event Center which is located 10 minutes north of Iowa City/Coralville or just 15 minutes south of Cedar Rapids.  The Golf Club address is:

The Club is a spacious venue/restaurant and bar will have a drinks and food available for purchase.  

Course Description:

The Lake Macbride Fat Tire Classic is a Fat Bike race like no other.  Presented by Sugar Bottom Bikes and The Solon Centennial Lions Club, the race will take you around scenic Lake Macbride on twisty pea gravel, flowing singletrack, scenic beaches, blazing fast double track, hilly and steep snowmobile trails, challenging hiking trails, and some scenic gravel roads.  The pointy end of the 30 mile riders tend to finish in around 2 hours with the back end of the race taking as long as 5 - 6 hours  

*Many of the trails in the race are not permitted for bikes EXCEPT on race day.  Please do not ride these routes until the day of the race.

Timing/Awards:

The race will be manually timed by volunteers so please be patient with us.  When crossing the finish line please STOP to verify your number and finishing time with the timers.  Awards will take place in the Lake Macbride Golf Course Club House at 2PM or 5 hours after the start time of the Fat Tire Classic 30.  Racers receiving awards and prizes will be expected to be present for podium ceremony in order to collect their awards and prizes.  In the event that epic conditions could cause longer ride times, we will push back the ending time of scoring and the awards as we see necessary.

Course Markings/Navigation:

We will be marking both the ride and race course with big arrows and course tape but GPS Computer Navigation is absolutely recommended.  We cannot be held responsible for people who choose not to use GPS Navigation.  Markings can get knocked down by riders and wind or stolen and switched by mischievous characters.

Postponment/ Rescheduling

In order to present the safest and most fun event possible, we will reserve the right to move the start of the race forward or back 1 hour in order to achieve more favorable conditions.  In addition to this we will reserve the right to postpone the race to Sunday the 8th.  We also may choose to present a modified course in order to hold the event on trails that are not affected as much by adverse weather/temperature conditions.
